Community Guidelines
Respect what people are here for
When you join, you choose what you are here for: Date, Make Friends, Study Together or Explore. You only appear to people who chose the same thing, and this is the rule that makes those choices mean something.
- Romantic or sexual messages belong in Date. Sending them to someone you matched with in Make Friends, Study Together or Explore breaks these Guidelines.
- Someone choosing Make Friends or Study Together is not being coy. Treat it as what it says.
- You can report a romantic advance made in a non-romantic mode from the chat, and we review those reports.
- Repeatedly ignoring what someone is here for can get your account suspended, and doing it after a warning will.
- You can change what you are here for at any time in Settings. Changing it is the honest way to ask for something different.

CampusFlare exists so students can meet other real students safely. These guidelines apply to your profile, photos, messages, and any other activity on the app. Breaking them can lead to a warning, a suspended account, or a permanent ban, depending on severity.
Be a real student, be yourself
- Only sign up if you are currently enrolled at one of our supported universities (see the university list in the sign-up screen).
- Use your own name and photos. Impersonating someone else, or creating a profile for someone without their consent, is not allowed.
- Every account must belong to one real person. Shared, bot, or promotional accounts will be removed.
Photos and profile content
- Every photo must clearly show you, and be recent.
- No nudity, sexually explicit images, or content primarily intended to be sexually gratifying.
- No graphic violence, hate symbols, or content that promotes illegal activity.
- No photos of anyone else without their knowledge and consent, including photos featuring people who are not you.
- No contact details (phone numbers, social handles, links) in your profile that try to move people off CampusFlare before you have gotten to know them.
Respect and consent
- Harassment, threats, hate speech, or discrimination based on race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or nationality will not be tolerated.
- No unsolicited sexual messages or images.
- Take "no" as a complete answer — if someone stops responding or asks you to stop contacting them, respect that.
- Do not pressure anyone to meet in person, share personal information, or send money.
No scams or commercial use
- No soliciting money, gifts, cryptocurrency, or financial information from other users — this includes romance-scam behaviour.
- No advertising businesses, services, or other apps.
- No spam, chain messages, or automated/bot activity.
Meeting up safely
If you decide to meet someone from the app in person, meet in a public place on campus or somewhere well-lit and populated, tell a friend where you are going and who with, arrange your own transport, and trust your instincts — if something feels wrong, you are allowed to leave. CampusFlare cannot verify what happens off the app and is not responsible for the conduct of any user, on or off the platform.
Reporting problems
If someone breaks these guidelines, use the Report option on their profile or in chat, or block them so they can no longer contact you or see your profile. For anything urgent or involving a safety risk, also see the Child Safety Policy and contact us directly using the email below.
